Randiya Hotel occupies a quietly scenic corner of Moratuwa, a town well known for its woodwork industry, roughly 18 kilometres from Colombo. Built across an area of about 200 perches in the village of Koralawella, the property overlooks Bolgoda Lake and is enclosed by generous foliage, giving it the feel of a green retreat within easy reach of the city.

Moratuwa is accessible via the Colombo–Galle–Matara main road as well as the Colombo–Galle–Matara Southern railway line, making the hotel a practical weekend escape for those travelling from the capital or further along the southern coast.

Accommodation

The hotel offers 10 Deluxe Rooms in total. Six of these are air-conditioned guestrooms with balconies that look out over Bolgoda Lake, while the remaining four are non-air-conditioned rooms. All rooms are furnished with the basic amenities needed for a comfortable break from city life.

Dining and Facilities

Three distinct dining spaces serve guests at Randiya Hotel. The Rooftop Garden Restaurant provides views across the lake and is a popular setting for family and office gatherings. The Garden Restaurant and Bar shares similarly pleasant lake views; its tables are fashioned from natural boulders and rare wood, and the garden bar operates daily from 11.00 am to 11.00 pm, excluding Poya Holidays. The Coffee Shop is an open-air space with capacity for around 100 guests, offering an à la carte menu that spans salads, soups, Sri Lankan, Chinese, Western and Indonesian cuisine, as well as special bites — suitable for parties and casual gatherings.

The hotel also houses three banquet halls capable of accommodating large numbers of guests, with banquet menus ranging from Indian Biriyani to Chinese dishes. Every Friday and Saturday evening, BBQ nights are organised near the lake, accompanied by calypso music. A family corner with outdoor games is available for younger guests.

Excursions on Bolgoda Lake

Bolgoda Lake is central to the experience at Randiya Hotel. The hotel can arrange boat rides along the lake, and guests may choose between a motor boat or a traditional catamaran with a hand paddle. Sea fishing can also be organised — fishing is noted as the main source of income for people living in this area. Water sports including Jet Sea scooters and catamaran rides are available on request. The lake is also popular for surfing and swimming, and bird watchers will find a number of migratory species around its banks.

The Colombo Sailing Club is also situated on Bolgoda Lake. Beyond the water, Moratuwa is home to numerous Buddhist temples and Christian places of worship, among them Holy Emmanuel's, described as the tallest cathedral in Colombo.
