Wasana Beach Hotel is a small, family-run hotel and restaurant directly on the beach at Induruwa, just south of Bentota on Sri Lanka's south-west coast. With only six rooms, it is a quiet, personal place to stay, and guests often mention the owner and staff, the breakfasts and a stretch of beach that is calmer for swimming than much of this coast.
The hotel stands at No 177 Galle Road, Kaikawala, in Induruwa, with the garden opening straight onto Induruwa Beach and a private beach area in front. Induruwa railway station is about 1.2 km away, Bentota railway station about 5 km to the north, and Kosgoda, known for its turtle hatcheries, about 5 km to the south.
Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) is about 115 km from Induruwa by road, and the drive usually takes around 2 hours on the airport and Southern expressways, depending on traffic around Colombo. The simplest way to arrive after a long flight is a private airport transfer booked in advance with Lakpura: an English-speaking driver meets you in the arrivals hall and takes you straight to the hotel in an air-conditioned car, van or coach sized for your group, from 2 up to 15 guests, at a fixed price for the whole vehicle rather than per seat. There are six rooms in two categories: Double Rooms with a balcony, and Deluxe Double Rooms with a sea view. All are air-conditioned, with a private bathroom, a desk, an electric kettle and free toiletries, and the large balconies are shaded from the sun.
The hotel's own restaurant serves seafood alongside German and Russian dishes, and there is a bar and room service. Guests can also use the shared kitchen, the barbecue facilities and the terrace and garden facing the sea.
The beach itself is the main draw, for swimming, long walks along the sand and sunsets over the Indian Ocean. A sea turtle conservation project lies a short walk from the hotel, and more hatcheries line the coast at Kosgoda. To the north, Bentota offers water sports and boat rides through the mangroves of the Bentota River, and Lakpura can arrange private transfers and day tours along the coast from the hotel.
