About this experience
Set off from Mirissa for Yala National Park, the second-largest reserve on the island, spread across Sri Lanka's south-eastern coast. Your English-speaking chauffeur collects you from your hotel and drives you in an air-conditioned vehicle to the park, where a safari jeep and its driver-tracker are waiting to take you into the tropical wilderness.
Over a three-hour safari you'll search for the famous Sri Lankan leopard, alongside indigenous wild water buffalo, Sri Lankan sloth bear and large herds of Sri Lankan elephants. The park is home to many more mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish besides, and a litre of bottled mineral water per person keeps you refreshed as the wild landscape unfolds around you.
