A Sinhala-medium workbook in environmental studies, compiled by Jayasiri Kospelawaththa for pupils in the third grade. It follows the environment syllabus taught at that level and sets out exercises for children working through it.
The text is entirely in Sinhala, with no English translation, so it will suit households and schools where children are being taught in that language. Buyers abroad ordering for a child outside the Sri Lankan school system should bear that in mind: the material is written to the local curriculum and assumes a reader who can already follow written Sinhala at primary level.
It is published by M. D. Gunasena & Co. (Pvt) Ltd, an established Colombo house that publishes school texts and general books in Sinhala and English. Workbooks of this kind are bought chiefly by parents supporting a child's classwork at home and by teachers looking for written practice to accompany lessons. Sri Lankan families settled overseas who want their children to keep up with the Sinhala school syllabus are the other obvious readership.
