A Sinhala-language compilation of the Buddha's dhamma discussions — the conversations he held with all manner of people across the forty-five years of his teaching life, as these are preserved in the Sutta Pitaka. Rev. Maharambawewa Palitha Thero gathers them here and retells them in plain Sinhala, with the stated aim of making them readable and applicable to ordinary life rather than leaving them as scriptural material approached only by specialists.
The discussions themselves range across the people the Buddha met and spoke with, and the compiler's work is one of selection and simplification: setting the material out in straightforward language so that a reader can take it up directly.
Readers should note that the text is written entirely in Sinhala. It is intended for Sinhala-reading Buddhists and for anyone studying the suttas in that language, and there is no English text in it.
