Ghee is clarified butter, sold by Bowatte in bottles from 30ml to 750ml. Butter is simmered until its water cooks off and the milk solids separate, which leaves a golden, nutty, aromatic oil.
How it is used
- Frying and sautéing, as ghee takes high heat.
- Tempering mustard seeds, curry leaves and spices for dhal and curries.
- Spooned over hot rice, or used in milk rice and sweets.
- Also listed by the maker for skin care.
Sizes
30ml, 180ml, 375ml and 750ml bottles.
Storage
Ghee may set firm in cool weather. Keep the bottle closed, use a clean, dry spoon and store away from heat and light.
