About this experience

Lace up your boots and step into Udawatta Kele, a dense sanctuary of ancient forest sitting quietly above the city of Kandy. Over five hours, a dedicated naturalist guides you along stone-laid trails that once wound through royal pleasure gardens centuries ago. Spot rare and endemic bird species among the canopy, pause at the crumbling ruins of monks' dwellings, and crouch to identify orchids and other plants threading through the undergrowth. The forest feels a world apart from the urban bustle just beyond its edge — this is a private trek, so the pace and focus stay entirely with your group.

This is a walking tour for travellers aged seven and above. Your naturalist and refreshments are included; hotel pickup, meals, and personal expenses are not, so arrange your own transport to the reserve entrance. Wear comfortable footwear, bring insect repellent, and keep your binoculars handy — the canopy rewards patience.
