Kataka and Meena Porondam

Yapay zekâ ile oluşturulmuş görsel · gerçek bir fotoğraf değildir

This page looks at marriage matching between Kataka (Cancer) and Meena (Pisces) in both Sinhala porondam and Tamil porutham. Here the rashi means the moon sign (chandra rashi) in the sidereal zodiac used in Sri Lanka, not the sun sign printed in newspapers. The rashi-level results differ depending on which partner holds which sign, so we explain both directions.

What does the rashi count mean for Kataka and Meena?

The rashi count is found by counting from the bride's moon sign to the groom's. When the bride is Kataka and the groom is Meena, the groom's sign is the 9th from the bride's, and the rashi item is obtained in both the Sinhala and Tamil systems.

When the bride is Meena and the groom is Kataka, the count becomes 5, and the rashi item is not obtained in either system. This shows why direction matters: the same two signs can give different rashi results simply because of who holds which sign. It is only one item among many, though, and does not settle the match by itself.

Are the rashi lords Moon and Jupiter friends?

Kataka is ruled by the Moon and Meena by Jupiter. In the traditional table of planetary relationships, the pair is described as friend and neutral: one lord regards the other as a friend, while the other holds a neutral view in return.

The calculator treats this relationship as sufficient, so the rashi lord item (rashyadhipathi in Sinhala, rasi adhipathi in Tamil) is obtained in both directions, whether the bride is Kataka or Meena. This is a steady point for the pairing, since it does not change when the signs are swapped between the two partners, unlike the rashi count.

Is vashya obtained between Kataka and Meena?

Vashya (vasya in Tamil) looks at whether one moon sign is traditionally said to be drawn towards, or influenced by, the other. Each rashi has a fixed list of signs it is linked with in this way.

For Kataka and Meena, the calculator finds vashya not obtained in both directions and in both the Sinhala and Tamil systems. As with the other rashi-level items, this is a single factor in a much wider assessment. Many families view vashya alongside the star-based items rather than on its own, and the overall picture depends greatly on the two birth stars involved.

Why do the birth stars decide the real match?

Each rashi contains parts of several nakshatras, giving 81 star-quarter combinations for this pair in each direction. The results vary widely. With a Kataka bride and Meena groom, 30% of combinations reach 8 of 10 porutham, 41% are weak in Tamil terms, 41% show a Tamil rajju clash, and 100% pass Sinhala porondam (excluding weekday).

With a Meena bride and Kataka groom, none reach 8 of 10 porutham, 46% are weak in Tamil terms, 41% show a rajju clash, and 49% pass Sinhala porondam. Using the calculator with full birth details, and consulting a family astrologer for marriage decisions, gives the clearest view.
