About this experience
This immersive workshop offers you the chance to experience the traditional art of batik making, where fabrics are masked with layers of wax and dyed in multiple colors to create vivid and intricate artworks. In Sri Lanka, batik is a versatile art form that results in beautiful wall hangings, clothing, and table decor.

Workshop Schedule:
9:00 AM – 9:30 AM: Drawing the design
9:30 AM – 11:00 AM: Waxing the design
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Dyeing the design
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM: Lunch (rice and curry)
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Waxing the design
2:00 PM – 2:30 PM: Boiling the design
Experience:
Your guide will meet you at a pre-arranged location in Kandy at 9:00 AM. You will be introduced to the batik artist and provided with all necessary materials. Throughout the day, you will gain hands-on experience in every step of the batik process, from drawing and waxing to dyeing and boiling the fabric.
This enriching experience will not only enhance your artistic skills but also immerse you in the cultural traditions of Sri Lanka. By the end of the workshop, you will take home a piece of batik art that you have created yourself, along with unforgettable memories of your time in Kandy.
