 Bandarawela Hotel at Bandarawela, built in 1873, has been well maintained yet not modernized, retaining the original architecture and interior decoration. Right behind the city center is the driveway of the Bandarawela Hotel that take you right back to the Colonial period of Ceylon. Bandarwela Hotel is managed by Aitken Spence Group of Companies in Sri Lanka.

The garden where an old black Austin Healey and BSA motorbike is parked, the reception where an old Bakelite telephone and a big clunky typewriter is showcased, enhance the colonial charm of the hotel. Some of the best and most 'flavoured' tea is said to come from this area. The best pears and strawberries are also grown here since the climate is dry and mild.
