Hotel Riu Sri Lanka is a 5-star all-inclusive resort on Ahungalla Beach in Sri Lanka's Southern Province. Opened in August 2016, it is the first RIU Hotels & Resorts property in Asia, offering a 24-hour all-inclusive experience by the Indian Ocean.
The hotel offers seven room categories. Options range from the 38 m² Jr. Suite and Jr. Suite with partial sea view, to the 40 m² Superior Junior Suite with sea view and the 88 m² Senior Suite with sea view and a whirlpool on its terrace. Family Suites provide 77 m² and two bedrooms, while a 55 m² Suite with sea view completes the selection.
There are three swimming pools, one of which is reserved for adults. A separate children’s pool with slides, a swim-up pool bar, and in-pool sun loungers add to the outdoor experience.
Four restaurants serve a variety of cuisines. Riti Panna/Ceylon is the main buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. La Forchetta offers Italian buffet dinners, Kaori features Asian buffet dinners, and Sauté serves international buffet and à la carte dishes throughout the day. Two snack bars are also available.
The hotel features a lobby bar and three further bars. One enjoys a terrace, while another is a swim-up bar beside the pool.
The Renova Spa provides massages, body treatments, a hydromassage bath, a steam room, and a beauty salon.
RIU Land kids’ club runs an entertainment programme for younger guests. Facilities include a playground and a dedicated kids’ pool with slides.
A fully equipped fitness centre offers the free RIUFit programme. For nightlife, the Pacha karaoke nightclub provides evening entertainment.
Hotel Riu Sri Lanka is approximately 121 km from Bandaranaike International Airport. The journey by road usually takes about 2 hours. Book the Colombo (CMB) Airport transfer to Hotel Riu Sri Lanka.
The resort sits directly on Ahungalla Beach, a public stretch of sand overlooking the Indian Ocean. No sunbeds are placed on the sand because the beach is public property.
Second time in RIU and it was a good stay. Specially the RIU Land kids facility is quite useful for parents. Neshtha there was quite helpful in taking care of our little one.
