Radisson Blu Hotel, Galadari Colombo is the former Galadari Hotel on Lotus Road in Colombo 1, refurbished and rebranded, a short walk from Galle Face Green and the sea. It stands on the edge of the Fort district in the centre of Colombo, with rooms and suites looking out over either the city skyline or the Indian Ocean, an outdoor pool, a spa and seven restaurants, cafés and bars. Radisson lists the hotel as opening soon and has not yet announced a reopening date, so please check with us before you plan a stay.
The hotel sells nine room categories, and the names below are Radisson's own. All rooms are air-conditioned with free Wi-Fi, and the Executive rooms and suites add an espresso machine and access to the Executive Lounge. Apart from the Family Stay and the two largest suites, each category can be made up with a king-size bed or twin beds.
If an ocean view matters to you, book one of the Sea View categories: the City View rooms and suites face the skyline. Cots are available on request, and families who want more space than one room should look at the Family Stay or the Executive Suites, which take two children.
The All-Day Dining restaurant on the ground floor, lit by a skylight and seating 220, serves fusion and traditional dishes from breakfast to late evening. Governor Gupta is a North Indian eating house with retro-inspired interiors and its own bar, and Ayoush serves Lebanese food at lunch and dinner, with a terrace for the sunset. Café 64, on the ground floor, has been a Colombo landmark for some 40 years, known for its cakes, pastries and breads, and there is also a Lobby Café with indoor and outdoor seating. For drinks, the Lobby Bar has panoramic windows, tapas and cocktails until midnight, and the Pool Bar looks over the city, Galle Face Green and the ocean, with pizzas, tapas and a children's menu. Room service is available.
There is an outdoor pool facing the sea, a fitness centre open 24 hours, and a spa with five treatment rooms offering massages, facials, body wraps and aromatherapy, along with a sauna and a steam room. The hotel also has a hair salon, an executive business lounge, a concierge, laundry and dry cleaning, luggage storage, valet parking and free Wi-Fi throughout. Families can join Sunday cooking classes with the hotel's chefs, and fitness instructors run workout classes. The hotel is pet-friendly, with one pet allowed per room. For guests with limited mobility there is an alternative accessible entrance with an automatic door, lifts, accessible rooms and staff trained in disability awareness.
Yes. The hotel has seven meeting rooms. The largest, the Blu Grand Ballroom, covers 580 square metres under a column-free high ceiling and takes up to 800 people theatre-style or 500 at round tables, and the Blu Sapphire, at 520 square metres, takes up to 500 theatre-style. Five smaller rooms, Garnet, Ruby, Zircon, Topaz and the Blu Lounge, suit meetings, seminars, breakouts and private dinners. Audiovisual equipment, videoconferencing and catering are available, and the wedding team arranges receptions with a stage, dance floor and the traditional oil lamp ceremony.
The hotel is close to the seafront: the One Galle Face mall is about 500 metres away and Galle Face Green, the oceanfront promenade with its evening food stalls and kite flyers, about 700 metres. The Lotus Tower is about 1.7 kilometres away, the Colombo City Centre mall about 2 kilometres, and Gangaramaya Temple about 2.2 kilometres, with the Seema Malaka shrine on Beira Lake close by. The Colombo National Museum is about 3 kilometres away. In the other direction, the restored Old Colombo Dutch Hospital in the Fort and the crowded bazaars of Pettah are a short tuk-tuk ride north.
Yes. Colombo Fort railway station, the hub of the island's rail network, is about 1 kilometre away along Lotus Road, roughly five minutes by car or tuk-tuk. From Colombo's Central Bus Station, the hotel is about a 15-minute walk.
The hotel is about 28 kilometres from Bandaranaike International Airport, and the drive takes about 45 minutes on the Colombo–Katunayake Expressway, which runs straight into the city, though city traffic can add to that. The easiest way to arrive is a private transfer from Colombo airport to Radisson Blu Hotel, Galadari Colombo, which takes you straight to the door.
It suits business travellers who want a central address with an executive lounge and large meeting rooms, couples who want a sea-view room and a choice of restaurants within the hotel, and families who can use the connecting rooms or the larger suites. It is a convenient base for a night or two at the start or end of a trip around the island, close to the Fort, the railway station and Galle Face. Radisson Hotel Colombo, a different hotel further south in Colombo 4, is the group's other address in the city. Disappointing stay with one of our rooms smelling very unpleasant; damp and musty. The hotel is obviously a corporate business hotel and I’m sure for these patrons it delivers but for us it felt uninviting and tired. The reception…
I stayed at this hotel for two nights during a weekend trip. The location was excellent, close to restaurants and public transport. The room was clean and comfortable, although a bit small. Staff were friendly and helpful througho…
I am attending the Compliance Symposium at the refurbished Galadari. The ambience is great, and the food is delicious. An award-winning lady chef prepared a warm dessert. Most of all, the service was exemplary. I had the privile…
