Jetwing Colombo Seven is a contemporary high-rise hotel on Ward Place in Cinnamon Gardens, Colombo 7, best known for its rooftop infinity pool and city views. Its Ward7 bar sits on one of the highest rooftops in Colombo. Run by the family-owned Jetwing group, it is a calm, design-led base in Colombo's leafy embassy and museum district, between the city centre and the suburbs.
All rooms have city views, central air-conditioning with individual controls, a 42-inch television, free Wi-Fi, a minibar, tea and coffee making facilities, an in-room safe, bathrobes and Link Natural toiletries. The names below are the ones you will see when you choose a room.
Every room is designed for two adults. Our rates allow a third adult, or two adults with children, in each category; tell us who is travelling when you book so the hotel can make up the room accordingly. The hotel also has two- and three-bedroom Serviced Apartments of up to 188 square metres with full kitchens and washing machines, which are not part of our contract, and four rooms adapted for guests with disabilities; contact us if you need either.
57, the main restaurant, has earthy interiors inspired by Sri Lanka's hand-made clay pottery and serves international dishes at breakfast, lunch and dinner, with indoor and outdoor seating. Up on the roof, Ward7 is a resto-bar with a cosmopolitan menu, wide windows and an outdoor terrace beside the illuminated infinity pool, open from morning until late. Room service runs 24 hours.
The rooftop infinity pool, with the Colombo skyline beyond its edge, is the reason many people choose the hotel, and is at its best at sunset. There is also a gym with views over the city, Spa Seven for massages and treatments, and a conference hall and meeting room for business travellers. The hotel arranges city tours by electric tuk-tuk, as well as car hire, laundry and a doctor on call.
Cinnamon Gardens is Colombo's greenest district. Viharamahadevi Park, the domed Town Hall and the National Museum are all close by, and Independence Square, with the Independence Memorial Hall, is a short drive south. Jetwing puts the Lotus Tower about 15 minutes away and the Gangaramaya Temple, beside Beira Lake and its Seema Malaka pavilion, about 30 minutes, depending on traffic. Galle Face Green on the seafront is the place for an evening walk. For more of the city see our guide to Colombo.
The hotel is about 30 kilometres in a straight line from Bandaranaike International Airport, which lies north of the city; the drive uses the airport expressway and then the city streets, so the time depends heavily on Colombo traffic. The simplest way to arrive is a private transfer from Colombo airport to Jetwing Colombo Seven, with the driver waiting as you come through arrivals.
It suits business travellers and visitors who want a quiet, modern hotel in a pleasant part of Colombo rather than on a busy main road, with a pool and bar worth staying in for, and longer-stay guests who will use the Studio kitchenettes. One or two nights is enough to see the city's sights between flights or before heading out on tour.
