When Leela, a teenage girl, is kidnapped by the Tamil Freedom Fighters, her brother enlists the help of the staff and guests at the Moon Rise Hotel.
Marni, the hotel manager, is in despair about the problems in her marriage, the futile search for her father and finding Leela alive. Hosting a dinner party for an arrogant junior minister is the last thing she needs.
Escape to Australia on a refugee boat may be the only option, but will they find Leela in time?
The lives of these strangers collide in a cross-cultural story of love, despair, bravery and corruption.
