Set out from Kandy at 7:00 am on this private 11-hour hiking and driving tour through Sri Lanka's mist-covered midlands, tracking down seven waterfalls between Wattegama and Bambarella. Your driver-guide collects you from your hotel and leads you along forest trails past misty peaks, tea-carpeted valleys, rocky cliffs, and crystal-clear streams — with occasional glimpses of deer, giant squirrel, and buffalo along the way. Pack covered clothing and proper hiking boots; leeches are plentiful in the jungle sections, and a change of clothes plus a towel will serve you well if you choose to bathe at the base of the falls.
Highlights include Rahas Falls, a 15 m cascade shrouded in local legend, and the 75 m Hulu River Falls, fed by the Knuckles mountain range and surrounded by dense forest. A traditional Sri Lankan lunch and snacks are included, so you won't go hungry on the trail. Hotel pickup and drop-off, your driver-guide, fuel, and all taxes and handling charges are covered. Food and drinks beyond the included meals, and gratuities, are at your own expense. Lakpura organises everything from start to finish; minimum participant age is 7 years.
