This is a collection of short stories in Sinhala by P.T. Madawala, issued by M. D. Gunasena & Co. as part of the publisher's Lihini Poth series. The whole text is in Sinhala, with no English translation, so it will suit readers who are comfortable in the language.
The Lihini Poth line was widely read in its day, and the publisher has brought it back in response to requests from readers, in a new format and with a fresh feel. Wanagatha Menika appears under that revived series.
M. D. Gunasena & Co. is a long-established Colombo publishing house and bookseller, with a list that covers Sinhala general reading, fiction and schoolbooks. Lakpura carries titles from Sinhala-language publishers for buyers abroad, and this one will be of interest to readers of Sinhala short fiction, to households keeping Sinhala reading material within reach of children and younger readers, and to anyone building a shelf of Sri Lankan popular series writing.
