About this experience
Step off the main road and into the living rhythms of rural Sri Lanka on this private six-hour village experience from Mahiyanganaya. Pedal a mountain bike through the quiet lanes that wind past paddy fields and local homesteads, then pause at Sorabora Lake — an ancient reservoir that still supplies water to the communities around it. Here you join traditional lake fishing with local fishermen before boarding a boat and drifting across the calm water, taking in the wooded shoreline at your own pace.
The tour also brings you face to face with Sri Lanka's Vedda — one of the island's earliest indigenous communities — and gives you a rare glimpse into their way of life. Breakfast is cooked fresh on Sorabora Rock over a live flame and served with the lake as your backdrop. All taxes and service charges are covered; gratuities and any additional food or drink are not included. Suitable for ages five and above.
