Vendol Venivel Herbal Soap is an Ayurvedic beauty soap made in Sri Lanka by Godakanda Herbals (Pvt) Ltd, the manufacturing arm of Vendol Lanka Company, which has been producing herbal goods under the Vendol name since 1982. The soap is categorised on-pack as an Ayurvedic Beauty Soap and is formulated around five plant-derived ingredients: Turmeric, Venivel, Margosa, Sandalwood, and Aloe Vera. The packaging states that no harmful chemicals or detergents are used.
Venivel — known in Sinhala as weni wel — is a woody climbing plant native to Sri Lanka and parts of South Asia, recognised by its bright yellow sap and leathery leaves. It has a long documented role in Ayurvedic practice, where it appears in ancient formulations. Margosa, familiar across South Asia as neem, and Turmeric, the vivid golden rhizome that underpins much of the region's traditional craft, are joined here by Sandalwood, prized for its warm, resinous scent, and by Aloe Vera, the succulent whose clear gel has been worked into personal care preparations for centuries. Together they form an ingredient list grounded in the Ayurvedic tradition that Godakanda Herbals' in-house Ayurvedic doctor personally oversees during production.
The company traces its herbal manufacturing to 1999, when it began applying modern production technology to formulations drawn from preparations said to be more than three thousand years old. All processes are supervised by a qualified Ayurvedic doctor on site at the Weweldeniya facility in Sri Lanka's Kandy district. The manufacturing company holds ISO 9001-2008 certification, as stated on the packaging.
The soap is available in an 80 g size, which carries a declared Total Fatty Matter rating of 78% — a standard industry measure of fatty content in finished soap. A 90 g size is also listed. Both are packaged in the distinctive Vendol carton, printed in English, Sinhala, and Tamil, and accompanied by a leaflet with further product information. Customer care enquiries can be directed to the number printed on the pack.
