About this experience
Spend two nights inside Yala National Park — Sri Lanka's second-largest natural forest reserve — on this private camping safari. Four dedicated safari sessions take you deep into freshwater wetlands, marine wetlands, and forested wilderness along the Hambantota-Yala coastline. Your experienced English-speaking guide handles the route and the wildlife spotting while park entrance tickets are taken care of. Keep an eye out for leopards (among the highest density per area in the world), elephants, axis deer, sambhur, sloth bears, and hundreds of bird species.
Evenings are spent around the campfire or in a hammock with a drink in hand, before a three-course BBQ dinner with a limited supply of cold beer. Sleep in Coleman tents imported from the USA, with mattresses, pillows, and clean linen provided. All meals are full board, and separate wash rooms are on site. Note that hotel pickup and drop-off are not included; minimum participant age is five years.

It has more drawbacks than advantages
If you are in the area, of course you have to visit, but the truth is that the experience is nothing to write home about.

Keep your expectations lower and you may be surprised.
I had an afternoon safari in Block 5 and a morning safari in Block 1.
In Block 5, there wasn't much going on, with a lot of the time spent on jeep convergences on possible leopard activity, all of which were false alarm…
