The Spa Ceylon Ayurveda Sleep Calming Balm is a solid, leave-on balm made in Sri Lanka and formulated within an Ayurvedic tradition that the brand traces back more than five thousand years. It comes in a dark purple round jar with a black lid, presented inside a purple carton box with a black panel and a lotus mandala pressed into the lid — packaging that draws on Ceylonese royal motifs and native script worked into a contemporary design. Two sizes are available: 25 g and 50 g.
The balm is built on a base of Virgin Coconut oil and Pure Bees Wax, which gives it a firm, salve-like texture that melts on contact with skin. Into that base the formulation folds seven aromatic oils: Lavender flower oil, Lemon peel oil, Ylang Ylang flower oil, Orange peel oil, and Ceylon Vetiver root oil — the last of these a distinctive Sri Lankan ingredient prized for its deep, earthy character. Natural Vitamin E from Soya is included as Tocopherol. The product is labelled Tridosha, reflecting Spa Ceylon's classification that places it as compatible with all skin types.
Spa Ceylon Ayurveda was founded in 2009 and is backed by a family business with more than five decades of Ayurveda health and beauty manufacturing in Sri Lanka. The brand states that its products are paraben-free, paraffin-free and alcohol-free, formulated with natural and organic essential oils, and produced with a commitment to sustainable sourcing and community trade. The balm is classed as 100% Vegetarian by the brand; because it contains Bees Wax, it is not suitable for those following a vegan lifestyle.
To use, apply a small amount to the temples, behind the ears, and the back of the neck — the pulse points where the oils meet the skin most directly — then breathe in gently and rest. The product is a topical, leave-on balm; it is not a rinse-off preparation, an ingestible, or a supplement. As with all essential-oil formulations, patch testing on a small area first is sensible practice.
