This is a Sinhala-language title, written and printed in Sinhala throughout, by Wimal Abeysundara. Readers who do not read Sinhala will not be able to follow it.
It appears in Gunasena's Lihini Poth series, a line of small Sinhala paperbacks the publisher began decades ago, taking its cue from the Penguin paperbacks then being produced in the United Kingdom. The series found a following among Sinhala readers, and Gunasena has brought it back in a new design in response to requests from readers. Sirimali is one of the titles issued in that revived form.
M. D. Gunasena & Co. is a long-established Colombo publishing house working in Sinhala and English. For readers outside Sri Lanka who grew up with the Lihini Poth format, or who are building a shelf of Sinhala fiction in its original language, this is a chance to hold the series in its current shape.
