One title in the Timeless Classics series from M. D. Gunasena & Co. (Pvt) Ltd, the Colombo publishing house, issued in English. The series takes stories that have been told and retold across different periods and kinds of storytelling, and presents them again for a new set of readers.
The subject here is Robin Hood, the outlaw of English legend who lives beyond the law in the forest and whose name has been attached for centuries to tales of archery, disguise, ambush and defiance of authority. The figure has passed through ballads, chapbooks and countless later retellings; this volume carries the story into the publisher's own series.
M. D. Gunasena is a long-established name in Sri Lankan publishing and bookselling, with a list that includes school and general reading in Sinhala and English. The Timeless Classics line sits on that general side, aimed at readers coming to these stories for the first time or returning to them.
A straightforward choice for a family shelf, a classroom library, or anyone assembling a set of the old stories in English editions published in Sri Lanka.
