A retelling of the wooden puppet's story for young readers, written in English by Priyangwada Perera and published by M. D. Gunasena & Co. of Colombo. It belongs to a series of fairy tale books produced in hardback for children in Sri Lanka, and the telling is kept simple and direct throughout.
Colour illustrations run alongside the text. The hardbound cover suits the kind of handling a picture book gets from small children, and from adults reading aloud to them.
Suitable for children meeting Pinocchio for the first time, and for Sri Lankan families building a shelf of English-language storybooks at home. Parents and teachers looking for straightforward English reading material for the early years will find it pitched at that level.
M. D. Gunasena & Co. is an established Colombo publisher with a long presence in Sri Lankan educational and children's publishing in both Sinhala and English.
