About this experience
Paramotoring — also called powered paragliding — pairs you with a trained pilot on a motorised trike suspended beneath a paraglider canopy. The pilot handles the throttle and steers via the canopy's risers; you simply sit in the harness and take in the view as a rear-mounted, caged propeller provides thrust and the light aluminium-and-steel frame lifts off straight from the beach.
The flight departs from Aluthgama, a coastal town about 1 km from Bentota, and follows the curve of Aluthgama Beach where the Indian Ocean meets the shore. From the air you look down on turquoise water, lagoon, beachside resort rooftops, and the pale ribbon of sand below. The standard flight runs 10 minutes, with longer sessions available for an extra fee.
Before takeoff, the team checks the weather and inspects the paramotor and wing, following Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority guidelines for air-based activities. The pilot manages launch, flight and landing throughout; safety gear is provided, and no flying experience is needed. Open to guests weighing 25 kg or more (roughly age 12+). Hotel transfers, food, drinks and gratuities aren't included — bring your own camera if you'd like photos, as the pilot's focus stays on flying.
