This is a reservation for the Nanu Oya to Ella leg of the Ella Odyssey, a tourist-oriented service run by Sri Lanka Railways on the hill-country line. Nanu Oya is the railway station that serves Nuwara Eliya, and from there the line climbs and then descends through tea estates, pine and eucalyptus forest and mountain ridges to Ella in Uva Province.
What sets the Ella Odyssey apart from the regular trains on this line is that it pauses briefly at chosen places so passengers can step off, look around and take photographs. Along this stretch those places include a view of Elgin Falls, Pattipola station and the Summit Level beyond it, Ohiya and Idalgashinna stations, Haputale station and a view of the Kithal Ella waterfall, before the train arrives at Ella. The scenery is on both sides of the carriage, so a seat on either side has something to look at.
The train runs air-conditioned first class saloons with numbered seats, where the windows stay closed, and second class saloons without air-conditioning, where the windows open and fans keep the air moving. The fare covers the train journey from Nanu Oya station to Ella station with all taxes and service charges. Transfers from your hotel to Nanu Oya or from Ella, food and drinks, and personal expenses are not included.
Seats on this line are in heavy demand. Sri Lanka Railways releases tickets to the public only 30 days before the travel date, and popular trains can sell out quickly. As an SLTDA-accredited tour operator, Lakpura holds a limited allocation of train tickets for its holiday guests and offers seats from cancellations or itinerary changes to other travellers when they become available.
Paying for a reservation does not by itself guarantee a ticket: requests are processed against availability, and if seats cannot be secured the payment is refunded in full. Tickets are issued in each passenger's name, so clear passport copies or accurate passport numbers are needed for everyone travelling, and the e-ticket is released shortly before departure.
