A Sinhala novel by Raja Sri Peiris, published in Colombo by M. D. Gunasena & Co. The text is entirely in Sinhala, so a reading knowledge of the language is needed; there is no English translation within the book.
The story follows a young man whose wilful, impulsive youth is gradually tempered by what happens to him. Love, separation and loss run through it, alongside endurance and the resolve with which he meets the difficulties that come his way. It is a novel of character rather than incident — the interest lies in how experience disciplines a headstrong temperament.
Of interest to readers of contemporary Sinhala fiction, and to Sri Lankan readers abroad who want to keep reading in the language. M. D. Gunasena is a long-established Colombo publisher and bookseller, publishing in Sinhala and English.
