Malwatte Bitter Gourd Herbal Tea (25 Tea Bags) Pouch

Bitter Gourd Herbal Tea from Malwatte Valley is made from bitter gourd (Momordica charantia), also called karela, the ridged green gourd cooked in curries across Sri Lanka. It is a traditional Sri Lankan herbal drink, here packed in pyramid tea bags so it is as easy to make as a cup of tea.

As you would expect from bitter gourd, the cup is distinctly bitter. The pouch is part of the Malwatte herbal range, a series of single-herb teas each in its own illustrated pouch.

In the pack

  • 25 pyramid tea bags, 37.5g net weight (about 1.5 g each)
  • Black resealable stand-up pouch with an illustrated label
  • A single herb, no tea leaf listed on the pack

How to brew

Put one pyramid bag in a cup, pour on boiled water and leave it for 5 minutes before lifting the bag out. Drink it plain, or add a little honey or jaggery if you like.

Storage

Press the seal closed after each use and keep the pouch in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.

Malwatte is the food brand of Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC of Colombo, a Sri Lankan grower, manufacturer and exporter of tea and spices.
