A retelling of a Sinhala folk tale, published by M. D. Gunasena & Co. of Colombo and written by Hingulwala Dissanayake. The story follows Kotiraala, who troubles everyone around him, and the lesson he is taught that stops him doing so again.
The text is entirely in Sinhala. There is no English translation within the book, so it will suit readers who read Sinhala comfortably, or households raising children in the language abroad and looking for story books from home.
Folk tales of this kind have long circulated orally in Sri Lankan villages before being set down in print, and M. D. Gunasena has published Sinhala-language titles for readers of all ages for many years. The title names two of the story's figures, the elder and younger Gamarala — the village headman, a stock character in Sinhala storytelling.
