A workbook in Sinhala for children in Grade One, compiled by Jayasiri Kospelawaththa to follow the Sinhala language syllabus taught at that level. The exercises are written to be worked through by the pupil, with the sequence of the school course as their frame.
The text is entirely in Sinhala, including the instructions for each exercise, so a buyer outside Sri Lanka should expect a book that assumes a reader — or a parent or teacher sitting alongside — who reads the language. There is no English edition or English-language apparatus here.
It is published by M. D. Gunasena & Co. (Pvt) Ltd of Colombo, a long-established Sri Lankan publisher of school texts and supplementary material in Sinhala and English. Books of this kind are ordinarily used as practice alongside the classroom textbook, at school or at home, and will be of use to Sri Lankan families abroad keeping up a child's Sinhala reading and writing at the level their counterparts at home are taught.
