Lime is a small evergreen fruit tree that rarely grows taller than 5 meters (16 feet), often developing a shrubby form if not pruned. Its branches are irregular with short, stiff twigs and many sharp thorns. The pale green leaves are small, and the fragrant white flowers typically bloom in clusters. The fruit is round to oval, measuring about 3–4 cm in diameter, with a thin greenish-yellow peel when ripe. Inside, the juicy yellowish-green pulp is highly acidic and flavorful.
