Lakpura Coconut Fiber Rope is a length of natural coir rope, twisted from the fibre of the coconut husk. It comes as a single 60ft (18m) hank of warm brown cord, rough and bristly in the hand, with the loose ends of the fibre standing out along its length.
Coir is the fibre found between the hard inner shell of a coconut and its outer skin. Rope is one of the oldest things it is made into, and coir has long been worked in Sri Lanka's coconut-growing districts.
This rope is left untreated, so it keeps the natural colour and coarse texture of the fibre and remains biodegradable. In the garden it is used for tying trees, shrubs, branches and flowers to their supports, and it sits gently against stems and bark. Indoors, the same coarse brown twist adds texture to gift wrapping, packaging, craft projects and home decoration.
The rope is supplied loosely bundled, as in the photographs, ready to be unwound and cut to the lengths you need.
