Lagoon Kayaking from Negombo

From$30

AI-generated image · not an actual photograph

The Negombo Lagoon lies on the west coast of Sri Lanka, a sheltered body of calm water edged with mangroves and still worked by local fishing families. This guided trip spends two hours on it in a two-person kayak, at a pace you set yourself, with a qualified guide on hand from the moment you arrive.

The lagoon is a mangrove ecosystem, and the mangrove islands and channels support varied birdlife. Fishing here is a traditional livelihood carried on from the water itself, so the boats and gear you pass are part of a working lagoon rather than a display. Wildlife comes and goes as it pleases, and no sighting can be promised.

The trip is sold for one to eight guests, and how many of you are paddling is the only choice you need to make. Depending on when your trip runs, you may find sunrise or sunset light on the water. Transport is not included: guests make their own way to the launch point on the lagoon.
