A Sinhala language reader from the Kumarodaya series, compiled by L. S. E. Amararatne, whose books have been used to teach Sinhala to schoolchildren in Sri Lanka over a long period. This volume continues that series, published by M. D. Gunasena & Co. of Colombo.
The text has been revised to suit present-day requirements, edited under the guidance of an advisory panel of scholars led by Professor Kusuma Karunaratne.
The book is written entirely in Sinhala, including all instructions and exercises, so a working knowledge of the script and the language is needed to use it. Buyers outside Sri Lanka ordering for children learning Sinhala at home, or for supplementary study alongside a tutor, should expect no English text within.
