A children's book in Sinhala by Cumaratunga Munidasa, issued by M. D. Gunasena as a new edition. The text is wholly in Sinhala, with no English translation, so it will suit readers of the language, families raising children in Sinhala abroad, and collectors of the author's work.
Cumaratunga Munidasa was a Sinhala scholar, grammarian and writer whose work shaped how the language was taught and argued about in the twentieth century. Alongside his writing on grammar and usage he wrote for children, and this title belongs to that side of his output.
M. D. Gunasena had published the book previously in a colour-illustrated form, with pictures by Sybil Wettasinghe. In this new edition the text is unchanged, and the illustrations are new work by Piyal Udaya Samaraweera, an illustrator of children's picture books including Mal Mama and Kele Kathawa.
