A Tamil-language book about living with less. It is written for people worn down by wants that keep expanding, and it sets out, plainly and without complication, how a life can be managed on the minimum of needs and the fewest possessions.
The argument rests on minimalism — an idea that religious teachers have put forward in various forms over the centuries, and which the book takes as its foundation rather than presenting as something new. The treatment is practical in intent: the aim is to show how the idea works in a life, not to debate it.
The author, Dr Amila de Alwis, applied the principle to his own living and found real benefit in it, and the book comes out of that experience.
Please note that the text is entirely in Tamil. Readers who do not read Tamil will not be able to use this edition. It is published by M. D. Gunasena & Co. (Pvt) Ltd, a long-established Colombo publishing house.
Of interest to Tamil readers in Sri Lanka and abroad who are drawn to simple living, decluttering and the ethics of consumption, and to anyone building a Tamil-language collection of contemporary Sri Lankan self-help and practical philosophy.
