A short story by Huberth Dissanayake, published in Sinhala as part of the Lihini Poth series. The text is entirely in Sinhala, with no English translation, so a reader will need Sinhala to use it.
Lihini Poth were small, widely read books in their day, and the format has been brought back by M. D. Gunasena & Co. in response to requests from readers, reissued with a new look and a new rhythm. Donkaraya appears under that revived series.
It will suit Sinhala readers abroad who grew up with these slim volumes and want them on the shelf again, and anyone building a collection of Sinhala short fiction. The brevity of the form makes it approachable for readers who are comfortable in Sinhala but read in it less often than they once did.
