These silvery, downy buds of Camellia sinensis are handpicked and handmade, and are withered using only filtered sunlight to develop their refined character. When infused, the buds take on a dark olive hue as they release their flavour: lightly fruity, with notes of grape, honey and flowers.
Imboolpittia Estate lies close to Nawalapitiya in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. First planted with coffee and rubber, the estate introduced tea in 1905, and its factory stands between 500 and 600 metres above sea level. White tea of this kind rewards care in brewing.
