About this experience
This service puts a Toyota HiAce high-roof large passenger van and a dedicated English-speaking chauffeur-guide at the disposal of a group travelling privately through Sri Lanka. The van seats up to eight adults with their luggage, making it a practical choice for families, small groups of friends, or colleagues who would rather travel together in a single vehicle than split across several cars.
The HiAce is a well-established workhorse across Asia, and the high-roof body gives the cabin a generous sense of space. Multiple rows of upholstered passenger seats run the length of the interior, so there is room to shift around, store hand luggage within reach, and arrive without the stiffness that comes from a long journey in a cramped vehicle. The van is air-conditioned throughout, and Lakpura's own livery is fitted to the door, so the vehicle is easy to spot at a pickup point.
Your chauffeur does more than drive. These are English-speaking guides who are familiar with Sri Lanka's roads, its sites, and the practical rhythms of travelling in the country. The standard service window is eight hours per day, running broadly from early morning to early evening, which is enough time to cover meaningful ground on most itineraries. If a particular day calls for a longer run, the service window can be extended at an agreed hourly rate.
Fuel is included for a kilometre allocation that grows with the length of your booking. The allocation is structured so that longer rentals receive a running total of included kilometres, with the daily addition tapering slightly as the trip extends — reflecting the reality that most itineraries slow down as guests settle into a region rather than covering maximum distance every day. Trips that exceed the included kilometres are billed per kilometre at a fixed rate. Days are counted on a calendar basis regardless of what time the service begins or ends.
For travel within Colombo, the mileage clock starts from your first pickup and stops at your final drop-off. For journeys that take you outside the city, the standard mileage count references Colombo Fort as its baseline; guests beginning or ending their trip at a location outside Colombo are encouraged to contact Lakpura directly to arrange a tailored mileage plan. Overnight driver accommodation is not included in the booking: many hotels extend a room to the driver as a matter of course, but where that arrangement is not available, a nightly accommodation contribution is payable directly to the driver.
