Whole cumin seeds from Bowatte, in a 75 g pack. The small, oblong, ridged seeds of Cuminum cyminum have a warm, earthy and nutty flavour, and they are one of the base spices of Sri Lankan, Indian, Middle Eastern and Mexican cooking.
How it is used
- Fried whole in hot oil at the start of a curry or dhal
- Dry-roasted in a pan and ground for curry powders and spice blends
- Added to soups, stews, meat rubs and bread dough
In the pack
Whole cumin seeds, 75 g.
Storage
Keep closed in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Whole seeds keep their flavour longer than ground cumin, so grind small amounts as needed.
