About this experience
Your 7-hour private day trip departs directly from your Unawatuna hotel, with your English-speaking chauffeur guide collecting you in an air-conditioned vehicle. First stop is Lunuganga, the extraordinary garden estate that renowned architect Sir Geoffrey Bawa shaped over decades — a place of terraced lawns, sculpted water bodies, and quiet architectural detail. From there, you head north to Balapitiya for a Madu River Safari, gliding through a network of mangrove-lined waterways and small islands.
Throughout the day, a complimentary water bottle is provided per person. Entrance tickets, food, and drinks are not included, so bring some rupees for admissions and lunch.
