About this experience
Set up camp on the beach at Panama and spend two nights under the stars on Sri Lanka's wild eastern coast. Your private three-day trip includes tented accommodation, a cool box stocked with soft drinks, and three surfboards for the breaks at Okanda surfing point. Walk the golden sands of Arugam Bay, take a dip in turquoise water, and round off the first evening with an outdoor campfire before bedding down beneath open skies. Minimum age is five, so families are welcome.
The centrepiece is a half-day evening safari into Kumana National Park, where migrant waterbirds gather in numbers around the lagoons and mangroves — national park fees are covered. Surf Okanda again on day two, then visit the ancient monastery of Kudumbigala, more than two millennia old, and look for crocodiles at the lake near Panama Village before drop-off at Arugam Bay or your hotel.
