A loose leaf pure Ceylon black tea with lemon, from the Battler fruit tea range. It comes in a 50 g carton, sealed for freshness, and gives about 20 cups at one teaspoon per cup.
The maker lists the tea as pure Ceylon black tea with natural lemon flavouring. It is a quick way to try a flavoured Ceylon tea without committing to a large pack, and the carton also suits a desk drawer or a holiday bag.
In the pack
- 50 g of loose leaf Ceylon black tea with lemon
- Sealed carton; reseal or move to an airtight jar once opened
- The maker gives a shelf life of three years
Tasting notes
A sharp, clean citrus note over a medium-bodied Ceylon black tea. The lemon lifts the aroma and gives the finish a light tang without turning the cup sour.
How to brew
- Use one teaspoon (about 2.5 g) of leaf per cup.
- Pour on freshly boiled water.
- Steep for 3 to 5 minutes, then strain.
Serving ideas
Lovely hot with a little honey, or chilled over ice with a wedge of fresh lemon. Skip the milk: it does not sit well with the citrus.
Battler is a Sri Lankan brand of pure Ceylon tea from Maltras International (Pvt) Ltd of Kaduwela, near Colombo.
