Basilur Leaf of Ceylon Kandy is a single-region black leaf tea from the hills around Kandy, the ancient city regarded as the cultural capital of Sri Lanka. It comes as 100g of loose tea in a shaped metal caddy from the Basilur Ceylon Regional Teas series, where each tin is named for the district its tea is grown in.
Kandy is a mid-country tea district, and these teas are grown between 2,000 and 4,000 feet above sea level. The leaf brews to a dark golden liquor, and Basilur suggests enjoying it with a touch of cream and sweetener as a relaxing tea for any time of day. Basilur grades the leaf as Pekoe.
The caddy is shaped like a gentle wave, wider at one end than the other, in a soft taupe finish. Its front is printed with a misty view of forested hills and a distant ridge, with Leaf of Ceylon and Kandy lettered across a curving band at the foot and the Basilur name running up the side in raised gold. A holographic Basilur Original seal sits across the lid, which repeats the landscape and the Kandy label.
Inside, the loose tea is sealed in a foil pouch with a zip lock, placed within the tin. The printing on the caddy reads 100% Pure Ceylon Black Tea and Exclusive Premium Ceylon Black Leaf Tea, alongside the Ceylon Tea lion logo.
