About this experience
De Tempel van de Heilige Tandreliek in Kandy is een van de meest vereerde heiligdommen van het boeddhisme en een aangewezen UNESCO-werelderfgoedlocatie. Binnen de vergulde, ingewikkeld versierde schrijnkamers berust de heilige tandreliek van de Boeddha, die pelgrims en bezoekers van over de hele wereld aantrekt. Het complex stamt uit de 17de eeuw en draagt een koninklijk erfgoed dat de culturele en religieuze geschiedenis van Sri Lanka heeft vormgegeven.
Het begeleide bezoek duurt ongeveer een uur, waarin een Engelssprekende gids bezoekers door de geschiedenis van de tempel leidt, de rituelen die binnen de muren worden waargenomen, en de architectonische details die het complex zo onderscheidend maken. De rondleiding staat open voor bezoekers van vijf jaar en ouder en wordt in het Engels gegeven als een groepsformat-ervaring georganiseerd door Lakpura.
