A Sinhala-language story book for young children by Sybil Wettasinghe, published in Colombo by M. D. Gunasena & Co. The whole of the text is in Sinhala, so a reader without the language will not be able to follow it unaided — worth knowing before ordering from abroad.

The story carries a simple moral, and the publisher states it directly: stealing is not good, and whoever does it will be found out. That lesson is what the book sets out to put before small children, told as a story rather than a lecture.

Sybil Wettasinghe was a Sri Lankan writer and illustrator who worked for many years in children's books, and her drawings are as much a part of her work as her words. Her titles are a familiar part of Sinhala reading for the very young, and are often bought by families outside Sri Lanka who want their children reading in the language at home.

Suitable for reading aloud to pre-school and early primary children, or for a confident beginner reading alone in Sinhala.
