Jetwing Lighthouse, Galle, Sri Lanka

Jetwing Lighthouse sits on a small hillock shaded by coconut palms at Dadella, Galle, right on the beach of Sri Lanka's south-western coast. Poised above the Indian Ocean, it combines a privileged natural setting with architecture of quiet distinction, earning its place as a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

The hotel was designed by Jeffrey Bawa, one of Sri Lanka's most celebrated architects, in the tradition of Colonial Dutch architecture associated with Galle's historic fort city. Among his many celebrated works, Jetwing Lighthouse stands as a particularly elegant example — its reception hall alone makes an impression, featuring an outstanding spiral staircase lined with stylised metal sculptures of Portuguese soldiers from the colonial era.

Location

Jetwing Lighthouse is located in Dadella, Galle, approximately 109 km south of Colombo. Guests travelling directly from the airport cover a distance of around 146 km to reach the property.

Accommodation

The hotel offers 60 Deluxe Rooms and 3 Theme Suites, all tastefully appointed with lovely balconies that frame picturesque sea views. Every room and suite is equipped with central air-conditioning with individual temperature control, direct-dial telephone, television, hair dryer with electric shaver socket, mini bar, coffee and tea making facilities, an in-room personal safe, and both bath and shower.

Theme Suites

The three Theme Suites each carry a unique style and afford fine ocean views. They feature four-poster king-sized beds, tropical teak wood floors, and individually decorated separate sitting rooms furnished with a teak wood writing desk and a comfortable sofa bed.

Deluxe Rooms

The Deluxe Rooms share the same ocean outlook and offer king-sized or twin beds on request. Tropical teak wood floors and a teak wood writing desk fashioned in an old-world charm carry through the hotel's distinctive character. Bathrooms are spacious and well-stocked with robes, flip flops, a beach bag, and — a thoughtful touch — a cafetière with ground coffee.
