About this experience
Board a flat-bottomed boat at the Muthurajawela Boatyard at 7:00 am — or 3:00 pm if you prefer the afternoon slot — and spend four hours drifting through one of Sri Lanka's most biodiverse wetlands. Your hotel pickup is arranged in advance, and a professional bird guide joins you on the water throughout. The morning departure gives you the best chance of spotting rarer species, so early risers are rewarded. A bottle of water is provided for the journey.
As the boat moves quietly along the waterways, mangroves, palms, and marsh flora line both banks. Your guide helps you identify the birds that gather here — waders, kingfishers, herons, and more — feeding, fishing, and roosting among the reeds. This is a private tour, open to guests aged five and above. Gratuities and additional food or drinks are not included.
