Question 7

Is Carmona retusa the same as the Fukien tea tree?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Carmona retusa is widely referred to as the Fukien tea tree, a name derived from the Fujian province of China where the plant has long been cultivated. It is also called Philippine tea tree and scorpion bush in different regional traditions. Despite the 'tea' in its common name, it is not related to the tea plant used to produce Ceylon tea.
