About this experience
Step into your private 4x4 safari jeep and head into Minneriya National Park without the hassle of queuing at the gate. Your entrance ticket is arranged in advance, so you arrive ready to go. The jeep holds a maximum of six passengers, and your experienced driver doubles as your tracker — pointing out elephants, deer, and birdlife as you cover the park's open grasslands and reservoir shoreline. Free pickup and drop-off is included from any location within 5 km of the park gate, and a water bottle per person is provided for the three-hour outing.
Minneriya is best known for "The Gathering", when hundreds of elephants congregate around the ancient reservoir during the dry season. Your tracker knows where to look and how to read the landscape, keeping the jeep at a respectful distance while giving you clear sightlines. Note that hotel pickup outside the 5 km radius, food, additional drinks, and gratuities are not included. Minimum age is 5 years. A really good afternoon trip. We saw plenty of elephants and you could get soo close to them. Our driver was really good and flung some great spots. However, it did get congested at times with los of other jeeps doing t…

Horrible, trafic jams, exhaust fumes, vehicles not adapted, elephants harassed
Horrible! We were in jeeps so couldn’t see if we were sat - behind driver. If we stood the road was so rough we were thrown around and ended up black and blue. Too old for that in our 70’s!
Far too many jeeps allowed in.…
