Perched on a hilltop within a working tea plantation near Haldummulla, Mihidum Piyasa is a bungalow with roughly 60 years of history behind it. Originally built as a tea estate residence, it has since been thoughtfully converted into a holiday retreat, retaining its rural character while welcoming travel groups and families seeking a restful escape from busier surroundings.

The setting is its defining feature. An overwhelmingly green landscape envelops the property, and from the hilltop vantage point, breathtaking scenery stretches across distant valleys for hundreds of miles down toward the south coast. With no residential neighbourhood nearby, the atmosphere is one of genuine quiet — the kind that is increasingly rare to find.

A Base for Exploring the Region

Mihidum Piyasa sits within easy reach of some of the most celebrated attractions in the Haldummulla and Uva highlands area. Guests often use the bungalow as their base while visiting Adisham, Horton Plains, Bambarakanda and Diyaluma waterfalls, and Lipton's Seat, among many other points of interest in the surrounding hills. The bungalow is also within walking distance of the Colombo–Badulla Highway, making access straightforward. The road leading directly to the property is motorable, and ample parking is available on site.

Accommodation

The entire bungalow is offered exclusively to a single travel group or family at a time, giving guests the run of the property throughout their stay. The bungalow comprises four bedrooms, each with an attached bathroom and hot water. A newly built common bathroom with three separate compartments and a washroom is also available for added convenience.

Kitchen and Meals

A spacious kitchen forms the heart of the bungalow's hospitality. A caretaker and a cook are provided, and local dishes are the speciality of the house — a particular delight for groups arriving after a day spent exploring the highland countryside. For those who prefer to take charge themselves, self-catering is also permitted.

Facilities

Beyond the tranquillity of the natural surroundings, Mihidum Piyasa offers a small selection of indoor games including carrom, chess, and card games, making evenings around the bungalow a pleasure in their own right. A telephone facility is available on site for guests who need to stay connected during their stay.
